Review: Rule The Wasteland Micro Survival Fishing Kit

When it comes to fishing kits, they can be lacking or they can have just way too much. Eric from Rule The Wasteland has come up with a perfect solution to the survival kit that has a good balance of fishing supplies for just about any situation.
And it fits in the palm of your hand!
The Micro Survival Kit weighs just 2oz and comes in a preppers favorite aluminum tin with a watertight screw on lid, so you can use the tin for something else later on if you need to.
Living in Alaska, fishing is second nature. With the abundance of fishing options around, there are so many opportunities to catch a variety of fish. We have a big tackle box that we take with us whenever we plan on going fishing. However, if I’m not exactly planning on a fishing trip, I like to have a fishing kit with me at all times anyway.
While this kit doesn’t include a fishing pole, a pole can easily be made from a stick.

There’s a lot packed into this little kit! If you’re not able to get a bite with this kit…well, just keep trying because it’s not called catching, it’s called fishing!
Outside of the jokes, this really does give you a leg up to get some fish while in a survival situation. Or really, in any situation that you may stumble upon a lake or river and just wanna spend some time trying to hook some fish.
If you’d like to add to this kit, you could throw in a KABAR Kaster which would be a perfect way to have a fishing pole without having to use a stick. Of course, a stick is always an option, but the Kaser is lightweight and compact just like this Micro Survival Kit. They’re a perfect match when it comes to survival gear to acquire food in a survival situation! Though, is it really a survival situation if you’re this prepared?
The Micro Survival Kit can easily go into any glove compartment, bug out bag, chest pack, and even just your everyday pocket! It’s compact, lightweight and ready for action whenever you are.
One of the best parts about this kit is how easy it is to pack everything back inside of the kit. I’m all too familiar with kits where it’s all neatly packed inside when you first get it, but you start taking stuff out and using it and then it becomes almost impossible to get it all back into the kit. Not with this kit! It’s easy to get everything neatly back inside and get the lid screwed back on.
Be sure to practice with this survival fishing kit (and any other new gear that you may get) so you know exactly how and when to use it. You may also want to add any other additional lures or bait to this kit for any fish in your specific area.
