Review: Pika 3-In-1 Rechargeable LED Lantern by UCO Gear

We’re always on the hunt for light sources for camping, cave exploration, preparedness or just living through the extended darkness of Alaska winter. One thing I’m really looking more for is lanterns for a hands-off approach to light in a sedentary setting, like at home during a power outage or to hang inside of your tent.

The Pika LED Lantern by UCO Gear is one of the most versatile lanterns on the market today.

Let’s take a look at some of the features of the Pika Lantern:

  • Rechargeable. This can be charged with a wall socket, solar panel, solar generator or just about any energy source. No need to constantly switch out batteries, just recharge them!
  • Collapsible. You can use it as a flashlight or easily extend it out to be used as a lantern. It’s a really smart and intuitive design.
  • Water-resistant. With a water-resistant rating of IPX5 it can withstand low pressures of water like some light rain. It’s water-resistant, not water-proof. So please don’t submerge and keep out of heavy rain, but if it gets a little wet from rain, it’ll be alright.
  • It tops out at 150 lumens. You can switch it on and off with just the click of a button, but if you decide you want it dimmer or bright, you can just hold the power button and it’ll dim, then hold it again and it’ll brighten up to 150 lumens. It also has an SOS strobe for just in case. Easy peasy!
  • It can stay on for 80 hours! That’s a highly impressive run time. You would only need to charge every few days or so, depending on exact usage.
  • Compact and lightweight, coming in at 4 oz!

One minute you could be using it as a flashlight to see the darkness in the forest, the next you could dim it and use it to check out where you’re located on the map, finally, you could switch it to lantern mode and hang it in your tent or above your hammock.

It’s versatile, lightweight, compact, and very easy to use. All features I’m looking for these days. I feel like people have really been overthinking lights these days.

Being able to charge other devices is also a plus. I would use this to charge my phone, watch and other small devices like that. Of course, charging other devices will cut down on light burn time, so keep that in mind when wanting to use this to charge other items.

It is extremely bright. I don’t need hundreds of thousands of lumens, I just need to be able to see enough. You can very clearly see the light even in a bright room which is a good sign of a nice bright light. I really love how wide the beam is, but it still has that centered light, as well. It’s nice that this has a dim feature because in lantern mode I can definitely see needing to dim a little, because it can be so bright! Not a bad thing at all, I’d rather have access to brighter light than not bright enough.

Take a look for yourself at the Pika 3-in-1 Rechargeable LED Lantern by UCO Gear for $29.99. Highly recommend it!
