The Ohio State Buckeyes face off against the Oregon Ducks in the January 12 National Championship Game, and the people of Oregon, Ohio did not want to be confused for Oregon supporters. In light of the game the city temporarily changed their name following a petition from two of its citizens.
The mayor Michael Seferian issued an official proclamation that his city will be known as “Oregon, Ohio on the Bay, City of Duck Hunters” starting Monday and lasting through next week’s College Football Playoff National Championship. While we are not sure if the rivalry necessitated a name change, we are happy to hear of a city with “Duck Hunters” in its name.
