Spend more time scouting and less time changing batteries with the new and improved Stealth Cam Fusion Max Cellular Trail Camera!
Lets face it, there are some aspects of hunting that you cannot wait for and some tasks that can feel more like a chore. When it comes to managing your hunting land, having a well functioning trail camera is an absolute must to effectively monitor wildlife leading up to hunting season but, if you choose the wrong model you may find yourself constantly swapping batteries or receiving images sporadically due to poor cellular coverage. This is why it is crucial to do your research and select a cellular trail camera that will not only deliver the all important photos of whitetail but also function beyond the competition. The good news for you is that we have been testing out a high performing cellular trail camera that is going to be the cornerstone of your success this hunting season. That camera is the Fusion Max Cellular Trail Camera from Stealth Cam.
Redesigned for 2024, the newly improved Fusion Max Cellular Trail Camera has been built to make your life easier, your photos better, and your cellular connectivity as solid as a rock. If there is one thing I have noticed about Stealth Cam is that they have a firm grasp on what the end user wants and needs in a cellular trail camera and are constantly improving their products to integrate new technology. That’s why we are excited to be partnered with them this year and are using Stealth Cam products to power our all new OutdoorHub Game Trail. This is our new destination for all things related to game monitoring and trail camera photos.
We’ve tapped in to the extensive product catalog that Stealth Cam has to offer and setup our 640 Acre hunting property like a maximum security compound monitoring all of the possible areas we may want to hunt this season. With more cameras deployed on our property than ever before, one of our biggest considerations this year prior to set up was the amount of time we could be devoting to swapping batteries within our cameras. After two months of operation with the Fusion Max Cellular Trail Camera, I can safely say we did not need to worry about the functionality of this camera for a second.
Let’s dive in to the features and perfomance of the Fusion Max Cellular Trail Camera!
Connectivity
When considering a cellular trail camera for use on your hunting property, the biggest factor you need to consider is the ability for that camera to connect to a stable cellular signal. Much like your cellphone will seek out a cellular tower in close proximity to it’s antenna, your cellular trail camera will do the same. Very often, hunters who utilize a cellular trail camera for wildlife monitoring are left at the mercy of a singular carrier in their rural area that may or may not be compatible with their camera. When those issues arise, the effectiveness of their cellular trail camera to upload photos and video is greatly diminished.
For this reason, one of the stand out features of the Fusion Max Cellular Trail Camera for us is the dual network coverage that is standard right out of the box. With dual network coverage, your Fusion Max Cellular Trail Camera can effectively communicate with either an AT&T or Verizon tower without the need for additional data plans or hardware. Once you set you camera up, it will intelligently switch between carriers to leverage the strongest and most stable cellular signal it can find. Ultimately, one could argue that a cellular trail cameras ability to transmit photos and video is just as important as its ability to take photos.
With the Fusion Max Cellular Trail Camera’s solid cellular technology foundation, you also have to consider where the camera will be transmitting those media files and how you will view them. This is where the other side of the connectivity equation comes in to play, the Stealth Cam Command App. As someone who previously worked in the tech sector and has developed apps for clients and for personal projects, I am generally more critical of the user experience of mobile apps. It is incredibly common for developers to overload an app with features that are hard to use or hard to find. This is absolutely not the case with the Stealth Cam Command app. The iOS and Android compatible app allows users to easily access all of their photos and videos, share access with friends, manage their cameras remotely, and much more. To say I was pleasantly surprised the first time I used the app would be a gross understatement. I’ve used most of the cellular trail cams on the market and their companion apps and for me, the Command app is at the top of the hill.
Powering your Fusion Max Cellular Trail Camera
One of the marquee features of the newly upgraded Fusion Max Cellular Trail Cameras is an increase from 8AA batteries to 16AA batteries. The lifespan of the camera in between battery swaps is going to be something that will make or break you when it comes to managing your time on site doing maintenance activities. With double the battery life of the previous Fusion model, this camera is going to keep you busy monitoring wildlife instead of driving to your property to change out the batteries.
You can also opt to use one of Stealth Cam’s various power accessories that will further extend the power lifecycle of your camera. We opted for the SOL-PAK Solar Battery Pack which has a large capacity lithium ion battery bank that is charged by a solar panel. This all in one power system has been a great boost for the Fusion Max Cellular Trail Camera. Stealth Cam also has new offerings in their Fieldmax accessory line including lithium battery banks that fit inside of your camera.
Camera Capabilities
The beating heart of the Fusion Max Cellular Trail Camera is the incredibly capable camera which is able to photos up to 36MP and video footage at 30fps in 720p resolution. You are able to easily switch between the type of media your device is capturing within the Command app regardless of your physical proximity to the camera. With the increased battery capacities, you can comfortably choose video capture without worrying about an increase drain on your batteries. You also have the option for on demand photo and video capture. This could be one of my favorite features of the Fusion Max Cellular Trail Camera. The on demand function feeds the impulse of needing to know what is happening on the property whenever the itch arises. I’ve found that when you initiate an on demand image request, you receive the media file incredibly fast, often times in less than 30 seconds!
Final Thoughts
The Fusion Max Cellular Trail Camera is a perfect camera for hunters who are looking for an affordable yet capable cellular trail camera. This camera is going to out perform a wide range of the competitive landscape and keep you informed about wildlife movement day and night. With the added benefit of the Command app, you will be hard pressed to find a better option to fight any budget!
