OHUB Review: Bubba Pro Series Smart Scale

I have to admit it’s taken me some time to try out the Pro Series Scale from Bubba since the first time I saw it at ICAST this fall (2023).

After receiving the scale from an online purchase I decided to put in a little homework before I hit the water with my new toy. What I discovered was a scale that had more features than I had originally thought.

For starters, it comes with a Bluetooth-enabled mobile app that allows you to upload your catches and includes the weight of the fish, the weather at the time of your catch, and your location. This is all possible because the scale has GPS built into it. This Bluetooth feature is easy to use and even allows you to share your information with friends at the push of a button.

This makes it a breeze to keep track of your bag and cull fish. So whether you’re looking to use it in professional tournaments or just local jelly jar events, the tournament mode has you covered! It also has a competition mode which allows other anglers on your boat to compete with each other by collecting their fish and weights and separating them from each other. The feature ranks each angler by whoever has the heaviest bag. This feature allows up to four total anglers to compete.

As far as weight capacity goes, the new Bubba Pro Series Scale can hold up to 60 pounds so it can cover both my freshwater and saltwater fishing. The scale is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery but can also be replaced with AAA batteries.

The only drawback is that the scale is awfully pricey retailing at $199 but with its waterproof design and solid build it looks to be a scale built for life.

After testing the scale I would recommend it for any fisherman from professional to recreational. The information that is stored is worth its weight in gold in my opinion and will help any angler improve their game!
