Video: Florida Bear Takes a Dip to Beat the Heat

A video captured in Jacksonville, Florida, shows a black bear taking a swim in St. Johns River to escape the heat.

According to News4Jax, Raoul Hosein spotted the bear while riding his jet ski on the St. Johns River. The video is shot as the bear is swimming in the middle of the river, but Hosein said he saw the bear make it to shore and eventually run off.

Bears are pretty good swimmers, and are even known for swimming long distances. With summer approaching closer each day, the temperatures have been rising significantly, so it’s possible this bear was merely trying to cool itself off from the hot Florida sun.
