Viral Video: Sassy Sea Lion Slaps Kayaker Across the Face with an Octopus

It’s been the slap heard around the world. . . an unbelievable video capturing a rather sassy sea lion smack a kayaker square in the face with an octopus has gone viral recently, so of course, we had to share it with you.
The video shows a group of self-described “GoPro content creators” having a chill afternoon in the surf just off the coast of Kaikoura in New Zealand. Out of seemingly nowhere, a sea lion pops out of the water with an octopus in its mouth, and delivers a slimy slap across the face with its tentacles.
Taiyo Masuda, one of the guys in the group, managed to get the entire scene on video, and posted it to his Instagram (@taiyomasuda):
